Sculpture Festival

Year 3/4 had a great day at Gateshead Sculpture Festival. We packed so much in to one day and produced some fantastic art based on local sculptures

Cookery Club

Well done Cookery Club! We created some Italian cuisine, with a fusilli pasta served with roasted garlic and tomato sauce and another pesto-based dish. A small shaving of Parmesan brought a touch of class! Perfetto

Year 3 /4

Year 3/4 shared in their first class Celebration of the Word this afternoon. We reflected on our hopes for the year to come. We have had a great first week back with lots of new learning and new friendships formed.

Missionary Sisters of Charity visit

First Holy Communion Day

Our Year 4 First Holy Communicants received Jesus for the first time on St. Peter’s and St Paul’s Day at Our Lady of Lourdes, Chopwell. They were joined by a parishioner who attends a different school. We are very proud of them all and send congratulations from the whole school and parishes!

Lighting the Highfield tree with Liz Twist MP!

European Day of Languages

A huge merci beaucoup to all parents who stayed today to watch our French lessons and tres bien to our very brave teachers and extremely keen pupils! Thanks to all who sent a Cafod donation for non-uniform too!

Dancing Champion

Today we are celebrating this pupil’s achievement outside of school. She loves to dance and got second place in a Freestyle dancing competition at the weekend. Well done!

Year 6 buddies welcome Celebration of the Word for Reception families

Year 6 are loving being buddies. Today they welcomed their buddies and their families in our first parental celebration of the word.

Gateshead Dance Festival

Our Year 2 class and KS2 dance club performed on Tuesday at Gateshead Dance Festival at the Glasshouse. They were amazing and we are very proud of them!

St Joseph’s Day

St Joseph’s Day Celebration – KS2 celebrated St. Joseph’s Day today at mass. Our singing almost lifted the roof off! We are very proud of our school saint.

Year 2 – Road Safety

This week, Year 2 have been learning all about crossing the road safely. We have been practicing giving each other instructions on what to do, and how to stay safe.

St Katherine Drexel house party

St Katherine Drexel house gained the highest number of house points this term so here they are enjoying their popcorn and movie party! Well done to all of you.

Remembrance mass

We remembered the soldiers who fought in the world wars and all those who are suffering now because of war.

Laudato Si

Our Head Girls represented St Joseph’s at the Laudato Si mass at BWCET Trust. Through Laudato Si, Pope Francis encourages us to care for our common world. We spent the whole week in school learning about Laudato Si and praying for our world.

Father James 50th anniversary mass

We joined Father James at mass to celebrate his 50th anniversary as a priest.  We are very grateful to have him as our parish priest and friend.  Father James loved his cards and Sunderland shirt from 1973!

Year 2 Gymnastics

Year 2 have been having lots of fun in their Gymnastics lesson this week. They have been practising balancing and climbing.
